Playoff Hockey (Flameless)

Apr. 15th, 2007 | 07:56 pm

Given what I've seen in the first 2 games, the Flames don't deserve to be in the playoffs. If it weren't for Kipper, the Flames would've been blown out in each game. Don't think I'll be watching any of the Flames games but that won't stop me from watching other playoff series. Personally, I think it's gonna be Nashville versus Buffalo.

Bond and Casino Royale

Nov. 17th, 2006 | 08:08 am

Went to watch the exclusive screening on Casino Royale with Sano (thanks a lot Sano). It introduced Daniel Craig as the new 007 and it revolved around 007's first mission. I thought it was good movie in that it displayed Bond as a agent who relied more on his brawn than his gadgets. Unlike previous Bond movies, where Bond had a vast array of spy toys/gadgets to use, in Casino Royale Bond had his trusty .25 Beretta. This movie was good at telling the story of Bond before he becomes the renowned superspy that we are familiar with.

The movie was easy to follow and it was well-paced for a Bond flick. The action sequences for the movie were well done, in my opinion but the ending was not what I expected. Still this is definitely a movie that I will go watch again

Flames Season Opener (aka. Why does it always hit the post?)

Oct. 6th, 2006 | 08:32 am

Man, Today was alright except for watching the Flames against the Oilers in the season opener. I swear there was an offside on the Oilers third goal.

The game was sort of boring with the puck bouncing everywhere and the Flames couldn't keep the puck in the zone. Huselius missed the open side of the net and there were several goalposts that were hit.

The only highlights were the penalty shot that Iginla was awarded but he couldn't capitalize, as well as several highlight reel saves by Kiprusoff.

Hopefully the Flames will come out firing on all cylinders in their home opener on Saturday.

Go Flames Go..

Heatwave!

Jun. 28th, 2006 | 10:16 pm
location: Basement
mood: exhaustedexhausted
music: Jacky Cheung

I swear that there's a conspiracy theory brewing and it involves Mother Nature. With the insane high temperatures, even the building AC is no match for it. For the past two days, I've nearly passed out several time from the massive heatwave just by sitting at my desk. I've also been trying to keep myself well-hydrated but that plan failed miserably too so I figure that I might attempt to get myself a DQ Blizzard to combat the heat or a Slurpee. Mind you, I don't usually like to have those but in desperate time, it's best to find ways to keep cool.

Now I'm going to go down more fluids and remain in the basement for the rest of the night.

Ciao!

High School Graduations and Convocations

Jun. 6th, 2006 | 07:55 pm

Oh boy, it's the month of convocations and high school graduations. Went to the BioSci convocation this morning and I was amazed at the amount of people that I knew who were graduating. Most of the people I had not seen for about a year or so while some were the siblings of a few of my good buddies. What a small we live in, and how time flies by so quickly.

I also recently attending my cousin's high school graduation and I was glad that this would be last high school graduation that I would have to attend, where a relative of mine is graduating..until the next time which should be a few decades from now.

Reminds me of how we, as individuals should cherish the moment we live in and strive to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves. Unfortunately, it also reminds me of how old I'm getting....DAMN.

Anyways, time for me to head back to work and finish my work.

Baking in Calgary!! I'm praying for rain!

May. 17th, 2006 | 10:00 pm
location: At Home
mood: thirstythirsty

Can anyone tell me what the hell is wrong with Calgary's weather? It was hovering at 28-30 degrees celsius since Monday. Mind you, I don't mind the weather but it doesn't help when it's so hot that I'm nearly passing at my desk during the day. The only thing keeping me from doing that is my water bottle and a slurpee. Thank god for Slurpees. If not for that, I believe there would be a lot of bodies passed out on the floor at work.

Time to stock up on more water. Take it easy!

My first 15 days....Back in Calgary!

Mar. 16th, 2006 | 08:20 am
mood: happyhappy

Hello all!

It's been an eventful fifteen days in Calgary. I am still trying to get a semblance of a normal life but I guess there has never been a normal life for me, only routine. Anyways, I am glad to be back in Calgary because I miss the tumble dryer, my cell, my car, AND HOCKEY!! To have all those things back in my life makes me wornder...How the hell did I survive Poland without those. For those people who are wondering why I miss the tumble dryer it's because we didn't even have a dryer at the apartment in Warsaw. The only way we could dry clothes, was hovering it over the heater. But what I did was leave my clothes hanging, boosted up the temperature in my room and then close my door. Came back after work and some of my clothes still weren't dry.

Anyways, Colin and DS took me to a Flames game on March 2nd. Really liked the game (Flames won 2-0) and I liked the atmosphere at the Saddledome. I also got my fill of chinese food because I sure missed it in Poland. I also have Vietnamese subs and all the other good stuff that I usually eat in Calgary. LOL.

I have also started reading 'A Game of Thrones' By George R R Martin. It's an excellent read and unfortunately I can't seem to put the book down. I have to thank DS for recommending me the book but I honestly wished I had brought this book with me to Poland. Ah well, I can't complain now.

I'm still trying to catch up on lost time with my other friends but work seems to be in the way. I guess that's why we have the weekends.

Anyways, I'm getting ready for work so I'll talk with all of you later!

A Weekend in Reviewl

Feb. 21st, 2006 | 03:30 am

On Friday night, we went to the Underground, a night club close to the Warsaw Towers, where we work. We arrived at the Underground at 9 pm CET. The crowd had just started to filter in. With our large crowd, we got ourselves a table and started ordering drinks. Several of us ordered a couple of beers while the rest of us ordered vodka Red Bulls. I had one and I didn't like it at first but after awhile, it was alright and we ordered more vodka Red Bulls. The music playing at the Underground was a nice blend of old rock and new rock done in trance. At about 1015 pm, part of the group migrated to the dance floor to strut their while the rest ordered more booze, chatted, or just sat there enjoying the music.
Soon, a large group ended up dancing on the dance floor while some of us stayed by the table so we'd have a table to come back to after the dance. Throughout the night, we got a lot of pictures taken and we had a good time. By the time we decided to leave the Underground, it was 4 am and I had downed 9 vodka Red Bulls and 1 Vodka apple juice. I was wired thanks to Red Bull but I was physically drained. Not a good combo but I tried to go to sleep which I accomplished somewhat.
On Saturday, John and I decided to take some time off from the party life so we could recuperate, as we just went to Arkadia to try and find shot glasses but we were unsuccessful. So we wandered back to the apartment to watch the Canada-Swiss game and the Finns - Czech game. Unfortunately, Canada lost to Switzerland while the Finns beat the Czechs.

A Night of Bowling

Feb. 12th, 2006 | 02:45 pm
mood: tiredtired
music: Bryan Adams Anthology (UK Edition)

On Friday night, we (Andrew, John and I) went to Bradley's for dinner and then we met up with everyone else at the offices before going to a night of bowling. The trip to the bowling alley was interesting, we had to take the tram to another part of the city. The bowling alley was situated in a shopping mall on the 2nd floor, in an arcade. When we walked into the arcade, the bowling area was the back. We had the bowling lanes reserved for 10 pm CET and since we arrived at 2030 CET, we roughly had 90 mins to kill. So we all hung around near the dance floor and bar, watching the Olympic Opening Ceremonies.

When 10 pm CET rolled around, it was time to hit the bowling lanes.

Getting ready for bowling.

We were separated into 3 teams:
Team 1: Cesar, Pawel, Marta, and the Queer
Team 2: Ken, Maggie, Robert, Jerry, and Lucasz M.
